Theatre | ‘HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME’ PREMIERES AT CLASS ACT

Class Act Production’s 21st season continues with The Woodlands premiere of a new musical from the mind of Victor Hugo, inspired by one of the most epic stories ever told: The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

This daring production sets the classic tale of love, vengeance and compassion to one of the most sweeping scores ever written for the stage. It’s the only stage collaboration between two masters of American musical theater, Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast) and Stephen Schwartz (Wicked and Pippin).

Set in 15th century Paris, the musical tells the love story of the beautiful gypsy girl Esmeralda, the scorned bell-ringer Quasimodo and the dashing Captain Phoebus.

Class Act is proud to be the first theatre company in the North Houston area to premiere the new work. With a lush, emotionally rich score and beautiful choral arrangements, this epic musical is a dramatic retelling of the tragic Hugo classic. Darker than the Disney film, closer in plot to the novel, the musical showcases the film’s Oscar-nominated score and introduces stunning new songs.

The cast features Jake Teall as Quasimodo, Sara Marie Wojta as Esmeralda, Seamus Doyle as Phoebus, Brandon Brumfield as Frollo and Peter McPoland as Clopin. The music's choral beauty will be provided by local choral professionals and other adult singers.

Hunchback of Notre Dame is directed by Keith Brumfield, Founder & Artistic director for Class Act Productions. He is assisted by Debra Moses, and Music Director Rae Moses who is the choral director for the John Cooper School.

Performances of The Hunchback of Notre Dame are Friday, February 23, 7:30 PM, Saturday, February 24, 2:30 & 7:30 PM and Sunday, February 25, 2:30 PM. at the Nancy Bock Center for Performing Arts on the McCullough Jr. High campus in The Woodlands.
