The Woodlands Highlanders nabbed the lead late in the game in a 2-1 victory over Rockwall on Thursday. The game was tied at one with The Highlanders batting in the bottom of the fifth when Amanda Curran hit a solo homer.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Emiley Kennedy struck out 13, while Hannah Frank sat down six. The Highlanders got on the board in the first inning. The Highlanders scored one run when Abby Jones singled. Rockwall evened things up at one in the top of the third inning. An error scored one run for Rockwall.
Kennedy earned the win for The Highlanders. She surrendered one run on three hits over seven innings, striking out 13. Frank took the loss for Rockwall. She surrendered two runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out six. Kayla Falterman led The Highlanders with two hits in four at bats.
