Shenandoah, Texas — In a celebration of tradition and school pride, Oak Ridge High School crowned its 2024 Homecoming King and Queen, Dylan Chatman and Mya Williams, during halftime of the varsity football game against Grand Oaks on Friday evening at Woodforest Bank Stadium.

The ceremony took place at the 50-yard line, where the Oak Ridge Color Guard and Liberty Belles Drill Team provided Homecoming Court members a path of raised flags and precise formations. The coordinated display set the stage for an unforgettable night, highlighting the pride and spirit of the Oak Ridge community.

Principal Shawn Almond, along with members of the student council, presented Chatman and Williams with their crowns and sashes, marking the conclusion of the Homecoming Court ceremony. The crowd’s cheers echoed through the stadium as the newly crowned King and Queen stood proudly, their smiles reflecting the excitement and unity of the student body.

Earlier in the ceremony, the school acknowledged all Homecoming Court members before the grand announcement of the King and Queen. The crowning ceremony served as the perfect finale to the halftime celebration.

With the Homecoming King and Queen crowned, the student body eagerly anticipates the final event of the week — the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night. Themed “The Magic of Disney Fairytales,” the dance will bring students together one last time to celebrate the culmination of an exciting Homecoming Week.
