Conroe ISD high school students boarded charter buses Friday morning to travel to San Marcos High School for the 2025 State Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE), hosted by San Marcos CISD.

Students who advance to the State event must earn a Rating IV at their regional competition and successfully pass Area Judging. Only the top 1% of high school artists across Texas qualify for the State-level competition.
"This group truly represents the top 1% of high school artists in Texas," said Kyle McAvoy, College Park High School art teacher and chaperone.
Representing Conroe ISD are students from The Woodlands High School, College Park High School, Grand Oaks High School, Oak Ridge High School, Caney Creek High School, and Conroe High School. These students will compete among the best young artists in Texas on Friday and Saturday, April 25-26.
UIL's State VASE showcases exemplary student artwork across a wide range of mediums, offering students the opportunity to display their talents and receive recognition at the highest scholastic level.
The Visual Arts Scholastic Event is organized by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) and is considered the largest high school art competition in the nation. Students' works undergo multiple rounds of adjudication to be displayed at the state level.
