Oak Ridge High School celebrates its standout student at Cynthia Woods Pavilion

Valedictorian Ricardo Perez was celebrated for his achievements during the Oak Ridge High School Class of 2024 Commencement Ceremony on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Cynthia Woods Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas.
Principal Shawn Almond introduced Ricardo, emphasizing his impressive list of accomplishments. Ricardo's high school journey included participation in the Oak Ridge High School War Eagle Band and leadership roles as Vice President for both the Science National Honor Society and the Mathematics Honor Society Mu Alpha Theta. He was also a member of the Spanish National Honor Society, English National Honor Society, National Honor Society, Math UIL, and the Environmental Alliance Club.
Ricardo's academic excellence and commitment to extracurricular activities earned him the honor of valedictorian. He will continue his studies at The Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, where he plans to major in mechanical engineering.
During the ceremony, Conroe ISD Superintendent Dr. Curtis Null awarded Ricardo with the valedictorian certificate, acknowledging his outstanding performance. Following this, Conroe ISD Board of Trustee Mr. Datren Williams presented Ricardo with his high school diploma.
In a heartfelt moment, Ricardo’s parents, Ana and Emanuel Perez, were asked to stand and be recognized for their support. His grandmother, Lourdes Perez, and sister, Ashley Perez, were also present, sharing in the pride of his accomplishments.
Family and community members attended the ceremony, showcasing their support for Ricardo and his fellow graduates. Ricardo’s achievements are a testament to his hard work and dedication, setting a high standard for future graduates and showcasing the impact of dedication, leadership, and academic excellence.
